It had been way too long since I’d seen Jo. You know how it goes—life gets busy, and “We should hang out soon” becomes months of nothing.

One quiet Thursday morning, while the coffee maker gurgled in the background, his name just popped into my head. No big reason—just Jo. So I grabbed my phone and typed, “Hey buddy, it’s been forever. Want to hang out this week?”

By that afternoon, we were sitting in a little burger joint with cheap plastic cups and the smell of fried potatoes in the air. We laughed about old stories, swapped updates on life, and talked about everything from kids’ latest antics to the weird weather.

At one point, Jo set his cup down, looked at me for a second, and said, “I’m really glad you texted. I’ve been feeling pretty low lately… and this—being here—helped more than you know.”

It was one of those moments where you realize God sometimes puts a name on your heart right when they need it most. You don’t have to plan something big. Sometimes, it’s just a simple message, a shared meal, and the reminder that none of us are meant to go it alone.

So, if someone’s name comes to mind today—don’t scroll past the thought. Send the text. Show up. You might be the bright spot they didn’t know they needed.
