Friend, I see you.
You’ve been carrying so much — the to-do list that never ends, the people who need you, the weight of responsibilities that keep piling on. And somewhere deep down, you know you can’t pour from an empty cup, but girl, the cup is running dangerously low.
You’re not alone in this. So many of us are right there with you, trying to be everything to everyone while quietly wondering if anyone will catch us when we fall.
“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
That verse isn’t just a nice Sunday school memory. It’s an invitation. Jesus isn’t asking you to white-knuckle your way through another exhausting day. He’s whispering, “Give it to me. All of it. I’ve got you.”
Practical Takeaway: Before your feet hit the floor tomorrow morning, pause. Take three slow breaths. Whisper, “Jesus, I give you this day.” Set one intention — just one — for how you want to rest in Him today.
One of the sneakiest traps is thinking peace will come after we get everything done. But peace isn’t a reward at the end of the checklist. Peace is a Person, and His name is Jesus.
When my mind spirals with everything looming, I have to intentionally redirect. Not ignore responsibilities — but recognize what actually matters. “Apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5) Nothing meaning nothing that lasts. Nothing that fills the soul.
Practical Takeaway: Write down the three things that absolutely must happen today. Everything else? Let it be grace. You are not defined by your productivity.
Boundaries are not selfishness. Saying “no” to good things is often saying “yes” to the best thing — time with the Lord, time to breathe, time to be still.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
Stillness feels impossible when demands are clawing at you. But stillness is a practice. It starts small. Turning off notifications during your devotional. Sitting in silence for five minutes before the house wakes up. Letting laundry wait an extra hour to sit on the porch with your coffee and your Creator.
Practical Takeaway: Choose one boundary this week. One small “no” that creates room for a big “yes” — to peace, to Him.
Here’s what I want you to remember: You were never meant to do this life in your own strength. The moment you feel the most overwhelmed is the moment God is whispering, “Lean on me. I’ve got the weight.”
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want… Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no good, for you are with me.” — Psalm 23:1, 4
You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to keep taking the next step — and let Him lead.
Practical Takeaway: Grab a quiet moment today and write down one thing you’re holding too tightly. Then physically let it go — give it to God in prayer.
If you need help carving out that stillness, may I suggest something simple and sweet? My Peace Prayer Journal is a gentle, guided companion for your quiet time — prompts that help you release the weight and anchor in Him. It’s only and could be that small shift you need.
You deserve peace, friend. And it starts with one breath, one step, one surrender at a time.
Blessings and warmth,
Pepper
